Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2026 · Applies to the Motorlog mobile app by Kindlo Studios.

The short version

Motorlog stores all of your data locally on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no Motorlog server. Your vehicle logs, reminders, documents, and settings never leave your phone unless you explicitly export or share them. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information — the app has no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs.

What data the app holds

Everything Motorlog stores stays in the app's private on-device storage, and is removed if you delete the app:

  • Vehicle details you enter (nickname, fuel type, odometer, optional year/make/model, optional photo).
  • Log entries you create (fuel, charges, services, expenses — costs, dates, odometer readings, notes).
  • Reminders for services and renewals, and their intervals.
  • Documents you add (type, optional expiry date, optional photo).
  • App preferences (units, currency, theme, notification and app-lock toggles).

Device permissions & why they're used

  • Camera / Photos: only to let you attach receipt, vehicle, or document images. Images stay on your device; they are never uploaded.
  • Notifications: only to show you local service/renewal reminders scheduled on your device. No push server is involved.
  • Biometrics / device passcode (optional App Lock): authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Motorlog never sees, stores, or transmits your fingerprint, face, or passcode.
  • Files (optional): used only when you choose to export a backup/report or import a CSV/backup file.

Data sharing & export

Sharing is always user-initiated. You can export your data as CSV, PDF, or a JSON backup:

  • Exports are created only when you tap Export/Backup, and are handed to your device's system share sheet — you choose where they go (Files, email, etc.). Motorlog does not send them anywhere on its own.
  • Once you share a file with another app or service, that data is governed by that app's or service's privacy policy, not ours.

Data retention & deletion

Because data lives only on your device, you are always in control. You can delete individual entries, clear all data for a vehicle, or uninstall the app to remove everything.

We cannot access, recover, or delete your data on your behalf — we never have a copy of it.

Children's privacy

Motorlog is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone.

Third parties

  • The app uses open-source libraries (e.g. Expo/React Native components) that run locally on your device and do not transmit your data to us or to their maintainers.
  • No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.

Changes & contact

If a future version changes how data is handled (for example, if optional cloud backup is ever added), this policy will be updated and the change described in the app or store listing. Questions about privacy in Motorlog? A real person at the studio will read your message.
